RESPOND to Need as Christ

We are a people sent.

Sent by Jesus in John chapter 20:

On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you." When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you." And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "RECEIVE the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld."
(John 20:19-23)

We are a people sent...

with a message--the gospel

with a means--the power of the Holy Spirit

and with a methodology--as Jesus was sent

It’s very simple, really. Jesus saw our need and he responded.

So, we too are responding to needs around us, working for the common good, investing in the people of our community. Not through impersonal programs or institutions, but life-on-life; creating a legacy of respectful relationships, inviting friendships, and amazing partnerships.

As Jesus did.

But please understand, we’re not special people, we’re not better than everyone else. In fact, if any good comes from us, it’s because Jesus is working his goodness and graciousness out through us.

And we insist on giving Jesus all the glory!

RESPOND to Need as Christ is the first step in our Purpose & Process; repeatable actions we take to accomplish God’s desires for our lives and church. It’s not a formula, it’s really more of a mystery...and it’s what the church equips and supports us to do. This is the role our church plays in the bigger story of God.

RESPOND to Need as Christ is us doing what we say we believe. It’s us doing what Jesus sent us to do in the manner that he did it originally.

And you can join us!

Join us in the Reuter Family YMCA as we lead adult classes, build relationships with the lonely, serve stressed-out families, bless the elderly, have fun with children, reward membership scholarships and pray for those in need.

Join us in our community as we hold cookouts for our neighbors, serve the poor, volunteer in local schools, comfort the sick, support local businesses and help feed the hungry.

We all know people who have needs...that’s why Jesus sent us.
